I agree with you. It's still the best Linux OS. Compared to Ubuntu, it's even faster and the interface is really good.

What does that even mean? A debian linux powered by ubuntu means nothing and doesn't even make sense Ubuntu is based on Debian, gOS is based on Ubuntu so indirectly you could say it is based on debian. But you can't say whatever it is you were attempting to say

Also, as a third-party developed distro, gOS is not supported by Ubuntu. This is one of many third-party respins of the core Ubuntu distro. The folks at Canonical have no say in the development of gOS, nor do they offer long-term support.

GOS 3.0 excels in the looks department. I agree with many of your points. Its a well dressed up Ubuntu. I prefer GOS to Ubuntu. I only wish they also release a KDE version with KDE 4.

It's has a great theme, but it's never been a very "good" distro. 3.0 & 3.1 have compiz broken "out of the box." Their whole thing is eye candy & they haven't fixed it. gOS is Unremarkable. All past versions have all been pretty unstable & not upgradeable. Remember the CLoudbook & wal-mart PCs w/ their really bad OS? That was gOS.
The current versions, according to gOS are Ubuntu, no LXDE or anything, + google gadgets (gnome already has desklets --same thing) + broken compiz and a dock.
It's no better than equivalent Ubuntu-based distros like Linux Mint. If anything, it's worse.

Easy of use is one of the things I like to see in Linux... I'm getting tired of my fedora 10 bugs.. I will definitely give it a try. hopefully before school starts again.

One question: Do you think it would be wise to use it at work (winBIND/Kerberos authentication)?
